Artist’s Statement

What does a tulip truly look like? Not in a single moment — not in the curated perfection of a vase newly arranged — but across the full arc of its existence: fourteen days of growth, flourishing, and inevitable decay?

This series is Khalil’s answer to that question. Over fourteen days, he photographed the same bouquet of tulips daily, then assembled every image into a single, composite work. The result is not a photograph of a flower. It is the complete life story of a flower — compressed, layered, and made visible all at once.

Time is the medium here as much as light. The allure of this work lies in the way it collapses the linear experience of watching something live and die into a single, simultaneous image. Beauty and decay occupy the same frame. The story, of course, was always going to end this way. It is for us to discover it, experience it, and find what moves us within it.
